An Authentic and Personalized Tuscan Experience

Slow Travel

A stay at Borgo Santolina is rooted in slow travel: a relaxed pace, a week long stay, and a focus on daily life instead of rushing between sights. You are still close to Tuscany’s highlights but without the crowds. Hidden gems surround you - quiet medieval villages, hikes on ancient trails, family run restaurants, local artisans, and emerging winemakers.

A Bespoke Itinerary for Every Group

Our team plans every detail of your personalized week. Your itinerary might center on food and wine, culture and history, a celebration, or simply time together to reconnect. Your days can be as active or as quiet as you like. Lounge by the pool, join a garden harvest, learn to cook, taste wine and olive oil, or ride horses at sunset. When the resort is yours alone, anything is possible.

This includes 14 ensuite guest rooms, an English speaking concierge, chef and culinary team that prepares all meals along with wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. Food, Wine and More

Food and wine are central to life here. In Italy, a meal is about connection as much as cuisine. Whether it is a simple breakfast in the bar, a family style dinner under the stars, or an impromptu gathering at the pizza oven, nothing feels better than sharing a good meal.

Our organic farm supplies ingredients hand picked for dishes prepared by our chef. We tailor each dining experience to the rhythm of your group. Prefer something casual and communal? We will fire up the 800 year old wood oven. Want a celebratory dinner with wine pairings? We will handle every detail.

Allergies, dietary preferences, and special requests are welcomed. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, no problem, we’ll make sure every guest is well cared for. We enjoy being creative and designing something special.

We can also arrange meals offsite with our favorite local restaurants or at one of the Michelin starred restaurants in the region. But after that first glass of wine in the garden, you may not want to leave.

Activities & Experiences

We create experiences that are authentic, local, and tailored to your group. Every activity is designed specifically for your stay, whether you want hands on workshops, outdoor adventures, or simple moments that connect you to daily life in Tuscany. Nothing is preset. Everything is personalized.

Cooking Classes

It wouldn’t be a visit to Italy without learning to roll some pasta. Learn to cook from our talented chefs and not only learn to roll the pasta, but also try your hand at searing a Fiorentina steak, or tell us what you have always wanted to learn behind the range, and let us build you a unique class around your ideas.

The Fire Pit

There is something about sitting around the fire that speaks to our very nature as humans. Gather at one of our three firepit areas for conversation, music, drinks and s’mores. In the colder months, rediscover the lost art of roasting chestnuts on an open fire.

Wine Tasting

Whether you are an Italian wine connoisseur or beginner, we’re ready to introduce you to some of our favorite local producers from across the valley or from Montepulciano and Montalcino.

Dark Sky Astronomy

Channel your inner Galileo and turn your eyes to the stars. Situated in one of the lowest light polluted areas in all of Tuscany, Borgo Santolina is the perfect place to admire the night sky with our state-of-the-art telescope.

Bocce Ball and Lawn Games

Have a friendly game and enjoy a cold beverage while tossing a few bocce balls. Or build a bracket-style competition to see who reigns supreme at lawn games such as badminton, horseshoes, Kubb and cornhole (and maybe also try your hand at classic Italian games like ruzzola and pallino).

Hiking

With miles of trails crossing our property, you could spend a week and never explore them all. Grab a pre-stocked backpack, a walkie talkie and a map and hike along the creek and untouched natural forest, or follow the Italian trails to the nearby towns of Iesa and Castello di Tocchi to find some local lunch.

Fishing

Borrow a rod from the outfitters and try your hand at fishing or just enjoy the walk along our half mile of creek frontage.

And much more…

The options go far beyond this list. Scavenger hunts, wildlife spotting, birding, karaoke, cappuccino classes, an easel set up at your favorite vista, cocktail classes, farm tours, kite flying, photography, the audio room, chess and board games, the poker table, the library, olive oil tastings, picnic lunches and more.

If you want to explore further, we can arrange off property experiences such as guided tours, truffle hunting, winery excursions, biking, classic Fiat or Ferrari rentals, hot air balloon rides, and helicopter tours departing from the property helipad. Additional fees apply.
